Tangled cords have been a problem for mobile device users since the advent of the Walkman. Although Apple makes earbuds out of stiffer, more tangle-resistant material than some manufacturers, they are still susceptible to knotting, especially if they’ve been in your pocket or at the bottom of your book bag. If you don’t want to shell out the cash for one of the various gadgets accessories that claim to keep your cords neat, you can use a simple wrapping configuration that keeps your earbuds tangle-free. This technique is especially beneficial for the rigid material of Apple earbuds which can be more prone to damage if bent or wrapped too tightly.
Make your hand into the “Rocker” or “Hook ‘Em Horns” sign, with your index and pinkie fingers up and your middle and ring fingers down.
Hold your earbuds against your middle and ring fingers with your thumb.
Wrap the earbud wire in a figure-eight around your index and pinky fingers.
Wrap the last two inches of the cord around the middle of the figure-eight and tuck the jack into one of the loops.
