You can change the password to your Kindle Fire from the Security Settings menu on the device if you know the current password. However, if you have forgotten your passcode, you will need to perform a factory reset to restore original settings to the device. Once factory settings are restored, re-register your device with your Amazon credentials and sync your device with your account to restore your downloaded items. You will need to reinstall any apps you installed prior to the reset.

Tap the “Quick Settings” icon from the Kindle Fire home screen, and then tap “More.” Additional settings menu options are displayed. You can also tap the “Settings” icon in the Kindle home screen, and then tap “More” to view the additional options.

Tap the “Security” option to open the Security Settings menu.

Tap the “Lock Screen Password” option to open the Lock Screen Password screen.

Type the existing password in the password prompt, enter the new password in the New Password field, and then re-enter it in the Confirm field.

Tap “Finish” to save the new password. The password is now required when you power on the device or wake the device out of Sleep mode.
Reset DeviceStep 1
Press the “Power” key to wake the Kindle from Sleep mode. The Password prompt displays.

Type your best guess at the password into the Password input box. Retype password guesses a total of four times. After the fourth incorrect password entry, the Reset dialog box opens asking if you would like to reset the Kindle Fire.

Tap “OK Reset” to reset the device to original factory settings.

Connect the Kindle Fire to a wireless network and re-register the device with your Amazon account.
